Nelson is a G3 PhD student in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at the Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in automated system and controls from the University of Notre Dame. He currently works with NASA on developing novel soft robot systems for performing sample capture and in-situ analysis in Martian and Lunar environments. Nelson was born and raised in Moca, Puerto Rico.
